Week 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings us our first taste of a super villain in the series. As usual, spoilers will be minimal as best as this show is to be enjoyed not spoiled!
Title of the Episode: The Asset
Who Wrote it?: Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen
What's it about?: An important S.H.I.E.L.D. asset has gone missing and it is not a good thing when the rules of gravity are being played with and not in a good way. Meanwhile, Skye (Chloe Bennett) begins her training to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent; but where do her loyalties lie?
Any Guest Stars, Super Heroes, Villains, etc?: Yes but to tell would be spoiling. We do however get our first taste of a super villain for the show and it is pretty freaking cool because he is a villain who is not unknown to the Marvel Universe!
Do I Need to See the Movies to Enjoy the Episode?: Nope. In fact, I may just eliminate this question in future posts because you already know what I am going to say!
What did Rick think?: Finally some actual character development! We get some moments with Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and Skye that reveal some back story and it is most welcome. We also get a small amount of insight on what exactly happened to Coulson but obviously not too much to give away the eventual surprise. Good action, good suspense, and there are quite a few really fun moments throughout. And that final scene in the episode? Oh man, it is not the last time we will see certain characters from this episode!
Final Verdict: A
