Hey Everybody Rick here with my review of Episode 2 of the new season of Doctor Who! As usual, I will try to stay as spoiler free as possible. Ready? Here we go!
Episode: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
Spoiler Free Synopsis: The Doctor, his companions Rory and Amy, and a few others arrive on a spaceship that is inhabited by robots, odd plant life and dinosaurs!
Quote of the Episode: "Why couldn't you phone ahead like normal people?"
How did Rick Like it?: If there is a way to accurately describe this episode, I think the word "fun" definitely comes to mind. Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley from the Harry Potter films) guest stars as Rory's dad and is incredibly funny in the episode. The humor is ramped up in ways that I never expected. From the banter between the various companions, the Doctor's insanely funny babbling to two very Pythonesque robots, this is one the funnier episodes of the season so far. The performances, as expected are excellent and the script exemplifies this with the humor and the serious moments evenly distributed throughout. The villain of the piece played by David Bradley (another Potter alumni) is interesting enough to keep things going but certainly not the best villain of the series.
That said, with a solid script and copious amounts of humor, the good definitely outweighs the bad yet again.
Final Rating: A
