Paw Prints: PurrKayla's SDCC 2011 Daily Dispatches - Tuesday Night Two-Fer Part 1

JediCole here with the latest installment of Paw Prints!  Purr has been quite busy out in San Diego, seeing the sights and being her incredible super-hero self.  And today I received two days worth of dispatches to pass along to the USG!  Here is the first from yesterday's fun with her human Tom!  There is so much more to San Diego than the convention and PurrKayla is showcasing so much of that!  Enjoy!

Monday, July 18 - Day 3: the USS Midway

So you are in San Diego a few days before Comic Con begins and you are wondering what there is to do until then?

San Diego is home to some of the coolest tourist attractions around! You can find something here for everyone in your family to enjoy!

Have a history buff in your family? How about someone who likes ships and airplanes? Then have I got the purrfect museum for you!

The USS Midway aircraft carrier is an unforgettable adventure that is purrfect for the entire family! Located at the pier in downtown San Diego, she features more than 60 exhibits as well as a collection of 27 restored aircraft!

You can visit the various decks and see what life on board an aircraft carrier is like! I strongly suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes as she is literally a huge city at sea!

A self guided audio tour, narrated by Midway sailors, helps to bring your visit to life! You will also find numerous veterans who are happy to talk with you and share their stories!

On the aft of the ship you will find the Fantail Cafe'. It's a great place to have lunch and look out at the water. They offer everything from cold sandwiches to hot meals. Once done, make your way back through the gift shop! It's the purrfect way to take some memories home from your visit!

Want to experience flying an aircraft? Then make sure to try out one of the flight simulators located in the hangar deck!

If you are traveling with someone with disabilities, you will be happy to know that the ship is handicap accesible! Elevators can get you to almost every level of the ship!

One of the aircraft elevators overlooks the next place you should's the San Diego waterfront! There you will find a 25 foot sculpture (visible from the ship) which honors the famous "V-J Day in Times Square" photo of the sailor kissing the nurse!
Also located in that area is the National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military. These amazing statues show comedian Bob Hope entertaining the troops. The detail on the statues is amazing and the Bob Hope soundtrack playing in the background really bring this area to life! It truly is inspirational.

This brings day three to a wrap. It has been a very busy day but one filled with a lot of fun, as well as "ohhs" and "ahhs." lol :)

Tomorrow is the San Diego Zoo! It will be nice seeing some of my own species! lol!
