Lest We Forget.......

Hey Everybody Rick here with a reminder to your local fans of the USG, that tomorrow night, September 11th, is the first annual Zombie Palooza, which is being put on by some friends of the show and is sponsored by some of the local haunts including Zombie Manor!

This event is being held for the benefit of one of the fallen heroes of Arlington Texas, a firefighter who lost his life in the line of duty. A definite worthy cause if you ask me.

Here is more information from the site...

Zombiepalooza is the first live music event in the metroplex where zombies can get together and celebrate who and what they were!

We have 4 amazing undead bands!  Check out our entertainment page for more info on each of them!
The Sirens of X5 will be roaming the floor as well as signing autographs and selling their debut calendars!  Don’t forget to pass by their table at the front for some free giveaways!!

At 11:00 everyone will gather to see who will win ZOMBIE OF THE YEAR!!!  One of the most coveted titles in our community!!  Judging the lucky few are Bloody Mary (Hollywood makeup artist), fellow bird-loving zombie Mildread aka Jessie Jessup (afternoon DJ 102.1 the Edge) & everyone’s favorite wrangler-Cooter from Zombie Manor!   Bloody Mary will also have her awesomely creepy comics for sale and she will be availlable to sign autographs throughout the evening!

Onto the back patio…there will be a HUGE charity drawing benefitting one of Arlington’s very own fallen heroes…firefighter Don Hogg.  We’ll have 2 separate raffles:
The first is for a multiple grab-bags of all sorts of yummies from Zombie Manor, X5 Entertainment, Bloody Mary, the Haunt House, 13th Street Morgue, Moxley Manor and other haunts and businesses throughout DFW!  Each valued around $200!!!  Tickets are $10 each cash only.
The 2nd is for an incredibly gruesome piece! The very talented, effects artist James McCormick will be donating a FULL SIZE ZOMBIE for you to display in your home or haunt or snuggle up with at night..whatever your pleasure.   Now this is valued at $2000!!!  but tickets are only $20 each!

All proceeds from the raffle tickets go to help the family of one of Arlington’s own incredible heroes: firefighter Don Hogg who gave the ultimate sacrifice 11/09.  Don was a firefighter with the Arlington Fire Department since 1986. He received the Medal of Valor, was Firefighter of the Year, Rookie of the Year, recognized twice as a member of the Crew of the Year, and was recipient of the Chief’s Five Standards Award.  He served his community by fundraising for Children’s Hospital in Dallas and the Midlothian Park Board. He served his family with the same passion, volunteering with his son’s school and baseball teams.    Please help support the incredible and loving family of this amazing man!   Thank you to the Guns and Hoses Foundation of North Texas, 2010 for providing the information.

Ok…now some may have  noticed that this event is on Sept 11th.   This is strictly a COINCIDENCE!!  There is absolutely NO connection whatsover to the horribly tragic events that occurred 9 years ago on that day.   And in total and complete respect for the firefighters, policemen, medical personnel, rescue workers and all innocent victims taken from us that day we ask that absolutely NO costumes directly related to that day be worn.

Rick here again.  We of the USG will definitely be there in force.  Come on by and meet me, Cole, Catherine, and of course, our Geek Chick Krystle as we go and be part of the undead festivities!
